Basic Biscuits

INGREDIENTS

2 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 teaspoons Durkee® Cream of Tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 450ºF.

Mix flour with cream of tartar, soda and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once and mix just until dough follows fork around the bowl. Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead gently for about one minute.

Roll to 1/2-inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet for 12 to 15 minutes until well browned.
