Yield: 4 dozen cookies

Cook time: 10 minutes

1 cup butter, softened (no substitutions)
2-1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided
2 teaspoons DURKEE® Ground Ginger
2 teaspoons DURKEE® Ground Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon DURKEE® Ground Allspice
1 teaspoon DURKEE® Vanilla Extract
2-1/4 cups flour

BEAT butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, spices and vanilla with an electric mixer until light and creamy. Slowly mix in flour.

SHAPE dough into 1-inch balls. OR, for cut-out cookies, chill dough until firm. Roll to 1/8-inch thickness; cut in desired shapes. Place on baking sheets.

BAKE at 400ºF for 8 to 10 minutes.

COOL 1 to 2 minutes on cookie sheets. Roll warm ball-shaped cookies in the remaining sugar. Cool completely on wire racks. Decorate cooled cut-out cookies as desired.
