Simple Ideas For A Flavorful Holiday!

Yield: 3 dozen cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened (no substitutions)
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2-1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon DURKEE® Ground Cinnamon
1/2 cup white sugar

MIX the butter, shortening and brown sugar in a large bowl, using an electric mixer. Add egg and molasses; mix well. Gradually add in flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.

ROLL dough into 1-inch balls, then roll balls in white sugar. Place balls on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with a flat-bottomed drinking glass.

BAKE at 350ºF for 10 to 12 minutes, or until cookies are set and tops are cracked. Cool on wire rack.
